Finnian G., 13 years old
Type of holiday: Family holiday
Destination: Cornwall (England)
Population: approx. 540,000
Duration: several weeks
Finnian, do you fly to England often?
Finnian: Yes, I am from England. My father still lives there so I normally fly there in the holidays and stay at my father’s house. I am there for several weeks in the summer and for 10 days in the other holidays.
So you know your way around there then?
Finnian: Yes, Cornwall is my second home. I can meet up with my old friends and we go skating in the skateparks. In summer we can go to the beach and go swimming in the sea.
What differences are there between your home in Germany and Cornwall?
Finnian: The landscape in Cornwall is nicer. I love that the sea is so close, it’s a really good location. And I really like English food! I much prefer the English breakfast with bacon and sausages and so on. It’s much better than German breakfasts! They also have pasties, crispy pastry parcels with different fillings. My dad always makes them himself with meat and potatoes. I don’t really think that the English are that much different to the Germans, although I do sometimes get the impression that the English are a bit more relaxed, and a bit friendlier.
