Climate:
Due to the proximity of the North Sea the Netherlands has a so-called temperate maritime climate, which means that relatively cool summers and mild winters create a pleasant average temperature. Rainy days are spread evenly over the whole year.

Trivia:
The colloquial term "Holland" for the Netherlands is not appreciated by many of the inhabitants: Holland actually refers only to the former province of Holland in the north west of the country. Those people, who do not come from there, do not appreciate the name "Holland" being used.
By the way, the Netherlands is a parliamentary monarchy: The head of state is a king, he appoints the Prime Minister and the Ministers. Together they form the government.
